Moreton City Excelsior and Heidelberg United are the next teams through to the Semi-Finals, following two high-scoring thrillers on Saturday.
Avondale 1-3 Moreton City Excelsior
A scintillating 10 minutes of second-half football guided Moreton City Excelsior through to the Semi-Finals in the early kick-off on Saturday.
It was a goalless first half as the teams fought hard to give little away. One of the best opportunities came from Blake Carpenter's free-kick for Avondale that drew a superb save from Moreton City goalkeeper Nathan Foster.
It all changed in the second half when Avondale defender Brandon Lundy saw red just seven minutes in, and from there, the visitors stepped up their game.
In the 59th minute, Keitatsu Kojima latched onto a ball over the top, with his original effort saved by Thomas Manos, but it fell back to the attacking midfielder, who rammed it home.
Moreton City continued to pick routes in behind the Avondale backline, and five minutes after their first, they grabbed a second, as Seita Murai slotted a smart finish into the goal.
Murai made it a brace three minutes after that as he finished off a well-worked team move from Excelsior with a side-footed effort into the left side of the goal, completing a ruthless 10-minute period for the side.
Avondale then set off on their pursuit of an increasingly unlikely passage back into the contest, and in the 79th minute, they pulled a goal back. Fornaroli rounded Foster and sent the ball off the post, however, it fell to Lucas Hogan to bundle it in.
The home side could not mount what would have been an extraordinary comeback as Moreton City confirmed their place in the Semi-Finals.
Heidelberg United 6-1 MetroStars
Heidelberg United came from a goal down to convincingly defeat MetroStars in the later kick-off on Saturday.
MetroStars stunned their opponents, scoring a goal within two minutes. Thomas Visser shifted the ball inside from the left and nestled a sharp finish into the bottom right corner.
It took Heidelberg just four minutes to restore parity as Jay McGowan sent a skimming shot from the edge of the area into the left of the goal. Moments later, United fired in front as Bul Juach executed a sensational spinning finish from close range.
Bergers added a third goal before the break through Marcus Humbert, who steered home a right-wing cross for the hosts to put them in a strong position at halftime.
After hitting the post early in the second half, Juach doubled his goalscoring for the afternoon in the 55th minute as he raced in on goal and calmly slotted the ball under MetroStars goalkeeper Cody Oestreich.
Little more than a minute later, United scored their fifth through Humbert. The midfielder took the ball just inside the left of the area before picking out the far corner with an accurate finish.
The hosts added a sixth goal late on through Anthony Lesiotis, who capitalised on a defensive error to add his name to the scoresheet.
