Inaugural Australian Championship Final Details Confirmed

Football Australia has today confirmed that Olympic Village, Victoria will host the inaugural Australian Championship Final between South Melbourne FC and Marconi Stallions FC on Saturday, 6 December 2025 (3.00pm AEDT).

The contest will decide the first Australian Championship Winners in a landmark moment for the competition. Fans will witness a genuine piece of history as a new chapter in Australian football is written, where history and modern football collide and the inaugural champions are crowned on a truly national stage.

Olympic Village has been selected for its rich football heritage, ensuring the decider reflects the competition’s identity and the values it was built on - authenticity, connection, pride and belonging. The venue provides a fitting stage for a Final designed to celebrate both history and the future of Australian Football.

Located in Heidelberg West, Olympic Village is one of Victoria’s most historic football venues. The ground has hosted decades of National Premier Leagues and NSL-era football and holds approximately 8,000 spectators.

Marconi Stallions were the first to secure their place in the decider after a 1–0 Semi Final victory over Moreton City Excelsior FC. The Sydney side finished second in Group B and advanced through a dramatic penalty shootout against Wests APIA FC in the Quarter Finals before continuing their run into the Final.

South Melbourne FC joined them later that evening, defeating Heidelberg United FC 1–0 in front of a vocal home crowd. The Victorian powerhouse have been one of the standout teams of the competition, having topped Group A during the group stage. They enter the Final as the higher-ranked of the two sides, adding another layer of intrigue with the decider to be played on Victorian soil.

Two of Australia’s most storied clubs and giants of the NSW and Victorian National Premier Leagues will now meet on the biggest stage as they look to write their names into the history books.

The Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament for the Group Stage will also be formally recognised during the Grand Final presentation.
