Australian Championship Trophy Revealed

Football Australia is proud to unveil the official trophy for the Australian Championship – a bold, dynamic and modern symbol of the newest domestic football title in Australia.

Crafted with precision and purpose, the Australian Championship Trophy is a striking fusion of tradition and innovation – a fitting prize for the team that will be etched into history as the inaugural champion in 2025.

Produced by D3 Design in Sydney from an original concept by Football Australia’s Head of Creative Ryan Ostle, the trophy base is constructed from Australian Blackwood – a native timber respected for its strength and resilience – and is wrapped by a sterling silver winners’ ring featuring a laser-etched Australian Championship logo ready to be engraved with the future champions.

Nine upward-facing nickel-plated shards represent the competition theme of ‘breakthrough’ consistent with the brand design elements that were visible during the launch campaign. The Australian Championship Trophy celebrates the aspirational drive of participating clubs, underpinned by a classic black felt base proudly adorned with the Football Australia logo.

Fans will get their first chance to see the trophy up close at this Sunday’s blockbuster clash between two Australian Championship foundation clubs, South Melbourne FC and Preston Lions FC. The trophy will be on public display at Lakeside Stadium, with fans encouraged to take photos and celebrate the next era of Australian football.

Quotes attributable to Football Australia interim Chief Executive Officer, Heather Garriock:

“The Australian Championship will be a major step forward in elevating our domestic football pyramid and an exciting addition to the football calendar.

“I hope this trophy reflects that ambition and will come to symbolise much more than victory. It should represent the journey of every club, every player and every supporter who believes in the future of Australian football."

Quotes attributable to Football Australia General Manager – Australian Championship, Nathan Godfrey:

“This trophy is more than just silverware; it represents transformative change for the domestic club football eco-system in Australia.

“The Australian Championship was created with the fan experience in mind, and we look forward to taking the trophy on tour to each of the eight foundation clubs throughout the conclusion of the NPL state competitions. We can’t wait to see it held high by the inaugural champions in December.”
